Red-X mining-grade IP 65 enclosure - back

The standard housing of the NB2000 vehicle routers was not designed to meet the environmental requirements in the mining industry.

IP65 Rated Enclosure

The solution was to manufacture an Ingress Protection 67 rated custom aluminium housing for the router.  The cabling that exits the router and terminates elsewhere (i.e. Power, Ethernet, Antenna, etc.) was also upgraded providing the customer with a package which fully meets the IP65 requirements.

Such IP65 certified products are exceptionally durable, corrosion-resistant and able to withstand mechanical abuse as well as exposure to chemicals, water, extreme temperature changes and high-vibrations.

Solution Description

In an industrial environment communications equipment, such as routers, antennas and switches, normally live a fairly quiet life in a controlled enclosure. However, in the mining industry these devices are exposed daily to humidity, extreme heat and cold, grime, dust, water and explosives.  For that reason, mining operations rely heavily on top grade products that are engineered to perform through the extreme and hazardous conditions. Equipment with the Ingress Protection rating IP65 are certified to weather such conditions and are essential to the mining industry.
